ITK Newsletter, no. C: OVER THE MOON TRADE/ARC REVIEW! - West Coast Avengers Vol.2, issues #25-30

Aug 7, 2019

Hey-Yohhhhhhhhhh!

Howdy, Loony readers - welcome to this week's ITK newsletter coming straight at you from the House of Khonshu!

It's been a pretty busy week, and there doesn't seem to be any respite soon (which is a good thing!!...keeps me off the streets!).

This coming episode, we are doing an OVER THE MOON Trade/Arc review and thanks to the responses from the Loonies over at our ITK Facebook group, we've decided to tackle more of the old-school classic comics of the West Coast Avengers...that team that ol' Moony had been affiliated with for so long...

PHASE OF THE MOON: WAXING GIBBOUS

WEST COAST AVENGERS VOL.2, ISSUES #25-30

I'll be joined by special guest co-host, Josh 'Geronimo' Johnson - for those who have listened to our podcast for a while, you'd know that Josh is no stranger behind the mic, and in actual fact one of his more recent jaunts on the show was to review another Trade/Arc review with myself and Dustin 'Cold Case' Kurtz which kinda immediately preceded these West Coast Avengers issues...!

I've just started reading them in prep for the show, and it makes for great old-school reading...totally suggest you go out and find a copy (whether it be in trade, floppy or digital form) and read up on these issues before the show!

DISCUSSION THREAD

Alongside this newsletter I'll post up a discussion thread on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, so you can let us know your thoughts on the arc, and if you found (much like myself) the cover to issue #30 absolutely hilarious!

If you DON'T want your comments broadcast, please just add, "(DNB)" at the end of your comment, and we'll be sure not to broadcast it. We'll pick a few comments from here and discuss on the show!

If you aren't really a Facebook, Twitter or Instagram person, you can always reach us on any of the other platforms below -

We love hearing from you and typically your comments generate thought provoking discussion on the show and allows us to dive deeper into the issues - don't hesitate to give it a go!

THE HUNT FOR KHONSHU'S GOLDEN SCEPTRE

With not so much as a peep heard since our monumental Episode 100 (Loony-palooza!) you're probably wondering what happened to our serial.

Fear not, avid listeners! The serial is alive and well, and is a slow burn as writing and organising audio ...then post-production is a slow process. In any case, I've written episodes Quatrieme, Cinquieme and Sixieme and I can tell you that I've got all the material for episodes IV and V, so it won't be long before you can hear the next chapter.

If you need a refresher, please don't hesitate to re-listen to our Parts Un, Deuxieme and Trois readily available on all podcast catchers.

The voice actors on the episodes are fantastic and I'm so grateful that they have given their time to record for the show.

My eventual intent is to combine all the Parts together once this arc is finished (I'm projecting about 12-15 parts) and I'll make it a proper audio full-length play. As to what I'll do with it, I'm not sure - it'll be uploaded and displayed on our website and depending on how much traction I can get, I may keep doing them...they're fun!

FANTASY COMIC LEAGUE (FCL) -  #ITKMOONKNIGHT, FINAL LEG

In other news, the mid-year season of the FCL is coming to a close, and things in the #ITKMoonKnight division is reaching a head! Very exciting stuff as Tommy 'The Man on the Street' takes out the month of July. Below you can see the score cards with how each of the players fared -

TOMMY 'THE MAN ON THE STREET'

DUSTIN 'COLD CASE' KURTZ

HIGH PRIEST OF KHONSHU, REY

HIGH PRIEST OF KHONSHU, CONNORSHU

'THE POWER OF' CHAD

So with Connor taking out May, Rey claiming June and now Tommy wrapping up July, there is only one month to go before the final results are known. Since Tommy has consistently been hovering up around second place, and as he won ended up on top in July, it puts Tommy in front in overall standings for the season:

The Man on the Street - 7 points
Both High Priests of Khonshu - 5 points each
Cold Case - 4 points
The Power of Chad - 0 points

It is still not a foregone conclusion, as potentially if Connor or Rey take out first place in August, and Tommy somehow ends up last this month, then the High Priests would claim victory. As it stands, Tommy is in pole position and sitting pretty and anything other than last place this month should secure him a win, giving him coveted bragging rights as well as a free trade of his choice, as supplied by FCL....fun, fun stuff!

If you've been curious about this fantasy league and are considering joining, don't hesitate to contact ITK, and we'll see if we can get another division up and running for next season!

Any further info, please don't hesitate to check out the Fantasy Comic League website, and to learn more tune in to our recent bonus episode where I had a chat with Brian Bradley, the organiser.

GUEST APPEARANCES

Finally, before I go, just wanted to give you a rundown of what lies ahead for ol' faithful here and where you can expect to hear my Aussie twang -

This Friday I'll be making another guest appearance on The Signal of Doom with my fellow Collective member, David Finn. Should be a cracker of a show and although this time I may not be able to visit him at the Swamp, we'll still be having a good yarn about all pop culture news and we'll review a handful of this week's select comics as well as a rounded review of Dave's trade of the week, The Massive. I was pleasantly surprised by this series written by Brian Wood, and needless to say you'll have to tune in the hear our thoughts on it!

This weekend I'll also be recording an early Last Sons of Krypton Podcast with my co-host Connor-El and a special guest Orion - host to We are Venomaniacs and recent addition to The Collective! We'll be looking at DC Comics Presents...#29 which features Superman and The Spectre! I've always been curious about DC's Ghost Rider (i.e the Spirit of Vengeance) so it'll be fun to chat with Connor and Orion, who will be our Spectre expert on the show!

OK, I better wrap this up so I can send this off to the press! Thanks for reading and hope you are still enjoying ITK - it's a show I love doing and I love creating for... I've got plenty of crazy ideas in this head of mine, so if you are willing to invest your time, I'll be sure to make it one helluva ride!

May Khonshu Watch Over the Denizens of the (K)Night,

Rey
